Usefull Software

  • WriteMonkey – a simple full screen text editor. It’s what I use to write my first drafts. It’s free. You can see my little review of WriteMonkey if you’re interested.
  • OpenOffice.org – who needs word anyway? I use OpenOffice to layout my text into a good looking pdf. It’s free.
  • Inkscape – a vector based graphics editor useful in cover creation. It’s free.
  • The Gimp – a raster based graphics editor. I use it for most of my graphics creation (Books, websites, etc.) Also Free.

These are a starting point to lay out your book so you can upload it to CreateSpace.com or Lulu.com, or any one of a bunch of other self-publishing sites.
